When there still are returns, we've observed that the secondary packaging is often reused more frequently to send the products back because it remains undamaged. Consequently, the return label is applied to this secondary packaging (rather than the primary packaging). This makes it much easier for us to reuse the primary packaging, and the returns become resellable. It's a win-win for Lichtkoning, our customers, and the environment.

New packaging solution
More than a year ago, we got in touch with Slimbox at Lichtkoning. Initially, we were mainly interested in packaging our long, fragile products (fixtures, LED strips, etc.). At that time, we saw the opportunities in reducing shipping damage, but we also spent unnecessary time and resources packaging some of our products.
After an induction period during which our team had to undergo and implement the necessary adjustments, we began to notice that we were using Slimbox for more packaging than originally intended, and that the right packaging also had more impact than we thought.
Safer shipping, less broken goods
Since we started packaging with Slimbox, we've noticed a significant decrease in broken goods. On one hand, the perfectly tailored packaging of our (often fragile) products ensures that the product moves much less within the packaging. As a result, we have much less shipping damage, even though we now use almost no filler material.
On the other hand, and somewhat surprisingly, we've also noticed that the more professional packaging has brought about other positive consequences.
